Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Alan Yarrow, accompanied by officials from the UK High Commission and visiting delegates from London visited the plant on 7th December 2014. Full of praise for the initiative shown by The Royal Mint in enabling the Indian consumer access a genuine product with the same assurance as in UK, the Lord Mayor was enthused to personally strike both the Sovereign and the Half-Sovereign. This hands-on activity was captured on camera and the photograph in an elegant silver frame now adorns his office in London as a permanent reminder of his visit to our facility.
The Lord Mayor also planted a tree to commemorate his visit to the plant. He took time off to address the employees in the ground floor cafeteria, and interacted at length with the Orange cap winners to understand the concept behind the means of recognition.
